I managed to get my new wheels and winter tires swapped onto the Jetta last night before the snow came, and man what a difference:
For reference, it used to look like this:
My spacer choices (10mm front, 20mm rear) we’re dead on balls perfect with the 17x8 et48 wheels. The track is the same front and rear because Mk4s are narrower in the back from the factory, and my spacing gets them right out to the lip of the wheel arch. Maybe a tiny bit inside, but not outside which is perfect.

You know, I didn’t think I would like it, but those totally work on that car. It definitely needed something. I like them better than the old wheels for sure.

Nice winter look ! The little Mk IV is such a handsome car. Unfortunately the only ones I see are beat up and rusted out heaps.

Much better!! I think the old wheels were too small in diameter. The bright wheels really break up all the black, plus they fill the wheel well better!!

I agree with everyone else, I didn’t think the wheels would look right due to the color, and I was totally wrong.
Not that my opinion matters in the slightest.

Totally. The old wheels were a) 15 inch, 2) too dark, and D) really awful. I don’t know that I’ll like the look forever, but right now I love it.

Makes the car look newer to me. I mean I’d rather have had steelies than the junk that was on it, but I like my green wheels on there.

This one has rusty pieces, but the car itself is solid. I’ve got rust on the hood, trunk, and LF fender...all of which I can solve with $100 and a trip to Pick N Pull because they’ve got 20 of these at any given time. I’m surprised how much different it looks with the wheels, the old ones really sucked.

I feel like the wheels would have worked on any grayscale color, so white to black and everything in between. If it was red or blue, or even green, I’d be painting them. Glad it’s black, black and green works well to my eye.

For some reason, your comment made me think of Subarus and Monster Energy drinks.

I would agree with all of that, too.
But now your winter wheels are nicer than your summer wheels, so time to start shopping for new summer wheels!

Purely from a common sense safety viewpoint these are probably every bit as good as the European regulated side visibility practices.

Having gone from white (winter) wheels on my old black wagon, to gray, to gray on blue, I am in favor of any non-black-or-silver options for wheel colors. Of course, I’m back to silver now because that’s what craigslist dealt me. But I love the green, and I really love the wheels.

The shade of green is different enough from Monster energy that your jetta doesn’t look like a Monster Energy can, haha. So good work! Looks great!

It’s kind of the same way I feel about car colors. If it’s not silver or black I’m for it, and in this case because it was black, adding color made good sense.

Ha, I hadn’t thought of that. Also it’s not a Subaru so that’s good.
